Timelines are the common denominator for exhibits in all practice areas, used in virtually all types of cases. Establishing what happened when, and picking crucial events out of the whelter of irrelevant information, provide the backbone of the case. Timelines should appear in opening statement whenever possible, and remain on display in the courtroom throughout the trial. This does not mean that the timeline should be presented in only its final form, however. Through the use of magnetic labels, peeloffs and overlays, a timeline can evolve throughout the trial. As witnesses testify, the facts established in their testimony are added to the board on magnetic strips. A variation uses peeloffscoverup strips that are removed during relevant testimony to reveal the underlying facts so that, again, the timeline is built gradually. Artists-at-Law vides a wide variety of timeline formats, enabling us to prepare the one that is best suited to your case. We specialize in using design elements such as icons, color coding and font selection to influence the jury and clarify the facts.
